Today I read Daniel Miller’s long introduction to the book Unwrapping Christmas (“Theorizing Christmas”), re-watched Når nettene blir lange, then spent the afternoon working on the article. It was very scattered and I had a super hard time writing. The article is still really disorganized, which makes it ever so difficult to know where to put new material, or how to arrange the various parts of the argument. I didn’t really get going with it until late in the day, and the early arrival of the rest of the family nixed any further progress today. Oh well.
If I think about it, I haven’t really composed any truly new material since last spring. I’ve been doing lots and lots of writing, but it’s all been revision. Funny how quickly we forget how painful the first draft of something can be!
